Military Engineer Services (MES) is the Oldest and largest Govt. construction organization in the country managed by highly professional and competent cadre of technocrats. MES is an organization catering to infrastructure development and maintenance of works related to Army, Navy Air Force, Coast guard, Defence Production, DRDO and DGQA & DAD. Thus the spectrum of infrastructure requirement is widely varied and technically complex. The uniqueness of Defence Infrastructure lies in handling complex infrastructure requirements of Aviation, ports and harbours, factory complexes, laboratories, missile and weapon systems, Hangars, blast pens, Underground structures, Radar and communication facilities etc.
National Solar Mission has envisaged a total of 300 MW capacity additions by Ministry of Defence. In turn, MES has been mandated with 150 MW of solar power plant capacity build up. Military Engineer Services is also gearing up to meet the targets of non renewable energy specifically solar energy. The present installed capacity of MES is merely 5.0 MW with the target to be achieved of total capacity of 150 MW by March 2019. Apart from that there is a potential of another 500 MW to be converted to solar power which needs to be harnessed for clean & green cantonments.
Accordingly, The aim of conference is to give impetus to this growth in Defence sector by bringing together the recent trends in solar energy developments at a single platform and gain from the knowledge available on the outside world to improve efficiency and speed. It is targeted that MES executives and planners of solar power works shall come at this Forum to interact with specialist of solar power field, National and International bodies and manufacturer/industry to enrich their knowledge.
